Description

This is an animation of a small section of the Soul Nebula comparing my Hubble Palette image from an earlier post (http://www.astrobin.com/107321/ ) and the infrared (IR) image from NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope (Credit NASA/JPL-Caltech/L Allen and X. Koenig, Harvard-Smithsonian CfA http://www.spitzer.caltech.edu/images/1953-ssc2008-15a1-W5-Star-Formation-Region ). This clearly shows the structural similarities and differences between the visible light emissions and those cooler areas emitting non-visible infrared.
